The 6th Annual Diabetes Summer Barbeque, sponsored with the American Diabetes Association (ADA), is an annual event for people living with diabetes and their family and friends. All-beef hot dogs, drinks and condiments will be provided. Attendees are asked to bring a side dish or dessert to share. Individuals who don’t want hot dogs are encouraged to bring their own meat to grill.

Macy’s is hosting its 10th annual Shop For A Cause Day benefitting nonprofits nationwide. The DCC is selling Savings Passes for $5.00 each with 100% of the proceeds going directly to the DCC.

Each Savings Pass saves 25% off regular, sale and clearance merchandise – including home and designer brands throughout the store, and 10% off electrics/electronics, watches, furniture, mattresses and rugs/floor coverings. Some restrictions do apply. The Savings Passes are only valid in-store and not for online purchases. Macy’s customers are also eligible to win a $500 gift card with no purchase necessary. Simply complete the contact information on the Savings Pass entry form and deposit it in the Macy’s collection box on Saturday, August 29.

The Club will meet every Thursday from June 11 – September 24 at 12:10 – 12:50 pm. The Club will gather at the Nancy Lewis Park on the corner of Templeton Gap Road and Logan Avenue, just 1 block South of Fillmore Street.

There is a $10.00 registration fee to encourage participation and the chance to win prizes at the end of the program. Every participant will receive a pedometer tracker the first week, with a chance to win a Fitbit tracker the last week. The Walking Club is open to people with diabetes in the Southern Colorado community, as well as families and friends. Exercise and being active are very important to helping manage diabetes. By joining the Walking Club, a person can find encouragement and a support system to stay consistent.
